"us divided by problems is less than or equal to nothing "

A Message from Mrs. Antoinette...

The phrase above says it all.  We need to work together to find solutions to problems and be greater than nothing and be something.  We are currently facing some challenges and I encourage you to sit down and set new educational and behavioral goals. I will be along side you encouraging you to continue to put your best efforts forward as we achieve these goals and tackle new concepts.  We are starting to prepare for standarized testing and so you will notice some changes to our routine as we work on improving our skills and achieving mastery.  Remember, this is a critical year in which the you are transitioning from middle school to high school.  Our goals are to ensure that every student is prepared academically and behaviorally to make the transiition with ease.  This is a benchmark year in which you are assessed based on your ability and knowledge of concepts to move on to the next chapter in your educational journey.  It is with our efforts as a team that success can be achieved.  Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns at cantoinette@lltacademy.com.

We LOVE technology and free resources!

ith the FCAT fast approaching and the end of the year in our near future, parents and students are seeking help in different areas and in different ways.  Besides face to face tutoring, there are a multitude of resources via the web to help motivate and improve your student skills in all aspects of math.  A have listed quite of few in the resource section of this website.  Many of you own a tablet or iPad and there are tons (yes tons) of free apps available to help you.  Students LOVE technology parents so get them involved at home!

Here a few to get you started:

I am very excited to announce our upcoming field trip to see EUREKA, a live theatrical performance nationally recognized for supporting educational standards in mathematics and science.  Sara is your typical teenager - good student, stellar athlete- but lately, she's been struggling with her math classes. On the eve of her big test, she's visited by some of the luminaries of the mathematical world, including Albert Einstein, Blaise Pascal, Lady Ada Lovelace and Pythagoras. Together, these mathematical luminaries show her how math is part of the world. They explore the Pythagorean Theorem, number theory, order of operations, probability, prime numbers, the Fibonacci sequence, Pascal's triangle, the origins of the calculator and the computer, lowest common multiples, greatest common factors, and more. They demonstrate the relationships between pineapples, pinecones, and the golden ratio, and help spark an interest in mathematics  as the code that defines the universe.
